6 Quick Tips For More Mindful Self Care

Feeling mentally drained, uninspired or unwell? Here are some quick tips on how you can mindfully improve your self care practices:

1 – Move daily.

While an exercise regime can seem tedious and overwhelming, simple daily movements don’t have to be. Whether it’s short walks, moments of stretching body parts or bouts of push-ups and leg lifts, brief periods of moving our body can add up and boost our mood and motivation.

2 – Opt outside or look out a window.

Nature has been proven to boost mood and increase overall well-being. Even looking out of a window and mindfully paying attention to your outdoor surroundings has proven benefits. Getting outside will get you moving and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

3 – Organize one area of your home.

A simple 30 minute organization of a drawer, closet, or shelf can be just the motivation you need. Not only will this boost endorphins through a sense of pride, but the newly organized area will evoke feelings of calm and peace for may.

4 – Set limits on screen time and media.

We all know the potential dangers of spending too much time on devices, but what we may not realize fully is what we lose when we spend too much time online. It takes time away from self-reflection, time outside, time with family and can overwhelm our brain and nervous system. Require breaks every 15 minutes or limit your usage to no more than 2-3 hours a day. Even small decreases in your usage can help improve mindful living.

5 – Speak kindly to yourself.

It may seem cliche, but you should be talking to yourself the way you would talk to your best friend. When you make a mistake, you can hold yourself accounting without berating yourself. Remind yourself you’re a human who is trying their best to make it through a stressful world as best you can. Use words of positive encouragement and love with your self-talk. Be your own best friend!

6 – Try journaling.
